EU Ecolabel Fees in the UK
Check the size of your company
Your company is considered a micro organisation if you employ fewer than 10 people and your annual turnover is no more than £1.4 million.
Your company is considered a small or medium-sized enterprise (SME) if you employ fewer than 250 people and your annual turnover is no more than £36 million.
Your company is considered a large company if you employ more than 250 people and your annual turnover is more than £36 million.
Application Fees (w.e.f 01.08.2016)
You must pay when you apply - the amount you have to pay depends on the size of your company. UK Ecolabel Delivery will tell you when and how much to pay. Please note that fees are net of VAT.
|Business Type||Standard Fee||15% Discount||30% Discount|
|Small or medium operators, and also any size of company in a developing country||£500.00||£425.00||£350.00|
You qualify for a discounted application fee if you’re registered in one of the the schemes shown below and your environmental policy and objectives include a commitment to ensure ongoing compliance of your EU ecolabelled products with the EU Ecolabel criteria:
- 30% for the Eco-Management and Audit scheme (EMAS)
- 15% for ISO 14001 certification
If you qualify for both, then you'll get the 30% discount.
Fees for licensing more than one product
You need to pay an application fee for each product you apply to license if they are in different product or service categories or are different formulations. For example a toilet cleaner and a window cleaner count as two applications although they are both in the same product category.
UK Ecolabel Delivery may want to inspect your premises or any premises related to your product or service - they'll contact you if they need to do this.
Inspections usually cost about £1,700 plus VAT - they'll cost more if the inspected site is outside the UK - the exact amount will vary depending on where the site is, and inspectors' travel costs etc.
Annual Licence Fees (w.e.f. 01.01.2017)
You will also need to pay an annual licence fee. This fee covers all the products you may have licenced within a single product category, whether it is 1 or 100. Therefore if you add more products to your existing licence in the same product category, a further annual licence fee is not payable. However, if you have licenced products in two categories i.e. laundry detergents and rinse-off cosmetics, you will be charged two annual licence fees. The fees are invoiced in advance in January each year.
|Business Type||Annual Fee|
|Small or medium operators, and also any size of company in a developing country||£950.00|
The above fees will be reduced by a further 10% if you hold EU Ecolabel licences in more than one product category. For example, if you hold a licence for product(s) in the "Rinse-Off Cosmetics" category you pay the fees above. If at a later stage, you are also awarded the EU Ecolabel for product(s) in the "Laundry detergents" category, the associated annual licence fee will be reduced by 10%. Each subsequent award of the EU Ecolabel to product(s) in other categories will result in further 10% reductions.
