News: Revised Criteria for Furniture adopted on 28th July 2016
After 3 years of development involving representatives of industry, government, environmental and consumer organisations revised criteria for the furniture product group have been adopted by the Commission and published in the Official Journal.

The criteria aim to reward those products which have a reduced environmental impact during their entire life cycle - that use materials produced in a more sustainable way (considering a life cycle analysis approach), limit the use of hazardous compounds, the levels of hazardous residues, the contribution of furniture to indoor air pollution and promote a durable and high-quality product that is easy to repair and disassemble. The revised criteria are valid for six years until 2022. To be awarded the European Ecolabel each criterion has to be complied with.
Validity date for Paints and Varnishes prolonged to 31 December 2022
Commission Decision amending Decision 2014/312/EU as regards the period of validity of the ecological criteria for the award of the EU Ecolabel for indoor and outdoor paints and varnishes was adopted 27 April 2018.
