News: UK Ecolabel Delivery speaks at DEB Conference
On 28th October, Paul Vaughan of UK Ecolabel Delivery presented the EU Ecolabel Scheme, its benefits and the criteria for Rinse-Off Cosmetics at a conference held for DEB's Elite Distributors in Harrogate.

The conference of DEB Elite distributors heard from a number of internal and external speakers including the MP Andrea Jenkyns and our very own Paul Vaughan about a diverse range of subjects relevant to the important campaign DEB is promoting to 'make hands matter' and combat infection in the workplace especially in hospitals. DEB has a range of hand cleaners that have been awarded the EU Ecolabel and Paul explained outlined the key elements of the EU Ecolabel criteria for 'Rinse-off cosmetics' which includes hand soaps and shampoos:
restricting the use of hazardous substances,
ensuring ingredients were biodegradeable,
sustainable sourcing of palm oil and its derivatives.
Paul emphasised that the criterion to make sure the product was functional and fit for use was an essential element in selling the ecological benefits of an Ecolabelled product!
Revised criteria for 4 product groups approved at the June meeting of the EU Ecolabel Regulatory Committee
The revised criteria for copying & graphic paper, newsprint, tissue paper and lubricants were approved at a meeting of the EU Ecolabel Regulatory Committee on 29th June 2018.
Extension of validity of existing criteria for Printed Paper and Rinse-off Cosmetics and 2 other groups being considered
A written vote has taken place to extend the validity of criteria for 4 product groups: Printed Paper, Rinse-off Cosmetics and Absorbent Hygiene Products.
Transitional period for revised EU Ecolabel criteria for Detergents extended
Commission Decision (EU) 2017/1214 set revised criteria for various types of detergents. In order to give current licence holders more time to adapt their products to comply the transitional period has been extended from 12 to 18 months
