News: Revised criteria for 6 product groups published in the Official Journal of the European Union (OJEU) on 12th July 2017
The revised criteria for Hand Dishwashing Detergents, Hard Surface Cleaners, Industrial & Institutional Dishwasher Detergents, Industrial & Institutional Laundry Detergents, Laundry Detergents and Automatic Dishwasher Detergents have been published.

After a rigorous process of evidence gathering and consultation with interested stakeholders including 2 working group meetings, the revised criteria for these 6 detergent cleaning product groups were adopted by the European Commission on 23rd June 2017 in Brussels and published in the Official Journal on 12th July 2017.
They are now available for companies to apply against. However, existing licence holders can continue to use the EU Ecolabel logo and licence number on detergent products that conformed to the previous criteria until the following dates:
24th December 2018: All Purpose Cleaners (Hard Surface Cleaning products)
24th June 2018: Detergents for Dishwashers, I&I Automatic Dishwasher Detergents, Hand Dishwashing Detergents Laundry Detergents, I&I Laundry Detergents

Extension of validity of existing criteria for Printed Paper and Rinse-off Cosmetics and 2 other groups being considered
A written vote has taken place to extend the validity of criteria for 4 product groups: Printed Paper, Rinse-off Cosmetics and Absorbent Hygiene Products.
Revised criteria for 4 product groups approved at the June meeting of the EU Ecolabel Regulatory Committee
The revised criteria for copying & graphic paper, newsprint, tissue paper and lubricants were approved at a meeting of the EU Ecolabel Regulatory Committee on 29th June 2016.
Transitional period for revised EU Ecolabel criteria for Detergents extended
Commission Decision (EU) 2017/1214 set revised criteria for various types of detergents. In order to give current licence holders more time to adapt their products to comply the transitional period has been extended from 12 to 18 months
